Adoption Process
You can view all of our available pets online by clicking on DOGS or CATS above! Find someone you love? Each animal profile will tell you if the pet is at our Andrews Facility or our Trenton facility or in a foster home. Stop by either facility (Andrews is located at 2451 N. US Expressway 281, Edinburg TX and Trenton is located at 2501 W. Trenton Rd, Edinburg, TX) Monday through Thursday from 2 pm-7pm and Friday through Sunday 12pm -7pm to meet your perfect match! Both centers are open from 2 pm - 7 pm, Monday through Thursday and 12 pm - 7pm Friday through Sunday.
If the animal profile says the animal is in a foster home, email our adoption team at adopt@pvastx.org to set up a meet and greet!
When you arrive at one of our centers, you'll be asked to complete an adoption survey. Wanna get a jump on the process? Complete the survey below, and when you visit the shelter, just let them know you've already completed the adoption survey!
Most animal adoptions are completed the same day. Adopters must be at least 18 years old and have a valid ID. If you are adopting at cat or kitten, please bring a crate, or you can purchase a cardboard carrier at the shelter before you leave. ALL CATS MUST LEAVE IN A CARRIER--NO EXCEPTIONS! Our adoptions are completed through mobile checkout on Shelterluv, our shelter database.
Adoption Fees
Dog
Puppies (2-5 months) - $100
Adults (5+ months) - $50
$50 refundable spay/neuter deposit is due at the time of adoption if the pet has not yet been altered
Cat
Kittens (2-5 months) - $50
Adults (6+ months) - $25
HIDDEN GEMS ADOPTION FEES
Any dog that is over five months old and has been at the shelter
for more than 30 days has NO adoption fee!
